| Obverse description | Central field displays the royal monogram of Odo composed of interlaced letters, surmounted by a small pattée cross above and flanked by additional letters below, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is rendered in the Carolingian tradition, with the individual letter elements — O, D — arranged in a cruciform composition. An outer legend in Latin capital letters runs around the periphery, separated from the inner circle by a plain band. The die work is characteristic of late 9th-century West Frankish hammered coinage, with slightly irregular letter spacing and a granular border of pellets. |
