| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the royal monogram of King Odo composed of interlaced letters surmounted by a cross pattée and accompanied by five pellets arranged in the field. The monogram is rendered in a bold, slightly irregular hammered style typical of late Carolingian coinage. A Latin legend reading ✠ GRΛTIΛ D-I REX encircles the central device, invoking the king's authority by divine grace. The overall design reflects the Carolingian monogram tradition established under Charlemagne and perpetuated by his successors. |
