正面描述 Central field features a stylized Carolingian monogram, composed of interlaced letters forming the name ODO, surmounted by a small cross above a globule, all set within a plain inner circle. The monogram is rendered in the angular, architectural Carolingian style typical of late 9th-century West Frankish coinage. Surrounding the inner circle, a circular Latin legend reading +ODO + GRATIA D-I REX (Odo, king by the grace of God) is distributed around the periphery, with cross pommée separators. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of hand-hammered medieval silver deniers.

附加信息

Odo — count of Paris, elected king by the Frankish nobility in 888 after Charles the Fat was deposed — ruled during near-constant Viking pressure on the Seine valley. His legitimacy was disputed from the start; the Carolingian claimant Charles the Simple waited in the wings throughout his reign. Coinage struck at Paris under Odo is consequently rare, produced under siege conditions in a city that had famously withstood a Viking assault from 885 to 886, just before his accession.

The Paris mint attribution is confirmed across all four major references, with Prou's numbering remaining the standard citation for the type.
