| Beschrijving keerzijde | Within a beaded inner circle, a plain cross with arms extending to the border occupies the central field, dividing the inner area into four quarters. The surrounding legend, separated from the cross motif by the beaded circle, reads PALATINA MO, identifying the mint as the royal palace mint. The lettering is executed in bold Carolingian majuscule characters and is legible around the full circumference. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck hammered production of the late ninth century. The overall design follows the standard Carolingian denier type established under the preceding dynasty. |
