Beschrijving voorzijde The central field bears the Odonic royal monogram, a bold interlaced ligature of the letters composing ODO REX, executed in the Carolingian royal monogram tradition with angular, intertwined strokes. The device is contained within a beaded inner circle, with small lozenge or cross ornaments punctuating the angles of the monogram field. A circular legend in Carolingian uncials occupies the outer field, reading ODO GRATIA DI REX. The die-cutting is characteristic of late ninth-century West Frankish hammered coinage, with strong, deeply cut strokes and slightly uneven flan preparation typical of the period.
Schrift voorzijde Latin

Beschrijving keerzijde The central field displays a plain equal-armed Latin cross, the arms extending to the inner beaded circle and dividing the field into four quarters. The cross and inner circle are cleanly struck in the Carolingian denier tradition, with the field surface largely unadorned. A circular legend in Carolingian uncials runs in the outer field, naming the mint city of Orléans. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the periphery, consistent with the hand-cut planchet and hammer-striking technique employed at West Frankish mints in the late ninth century.
