Reverse description A stylized representation of a church or chapel facade occupies the central field, featuring a heart-shaped or lozenge annulus at its center, flanked symmetrically by two crescents and two bezants (pellets). The architectural motif is rendered in the schematic manner typical of early Capetian feudal deniers. The surrounding legend MONSTEROLV, preceded by a star or cross, identifies the mint of Montreuil-sur-Mer. The design is enclosed within a beaded circle, the entire composition struck on an irregular flan characteristic of the hammered technique.
