Reverse description The reverse displays a stylised temple or church facade motif — a characteristic feature of the Étampes mint — rendered in a schematic, almost abstract manner consistent with early Capetian denier types. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, with the mint legend STAMPIS CASTELLVMI distributed in the outer field, partially obscured by the irregular flan and variable strike. The design, though crude, reflects the conventional ecclesiastical iconography employed at the Étampes workshop under Louis VI.
