The four quarters of the cross are unadorned, reflecting the simple architectural character of Capetian feudal coinage. The surrounding legend * LANDONIS CASTA, abbreviated form of Castellum Landonense (Château-Landon), appears between the inner beaded circle and an outer border of triangular pellet ornaments matching the obverse.
