| Additional information |
Louis VI struck these deniers at Château-Landon, one of his personal domain mints, during a reign defined by relentless warfare against the barons of the Île-de-France. The consolidation of Capetian power over the petty lords surrounding Paris was not yet complete when these coins entered circulation — Château-Landon itself sat at the southeastern edge of the royal domain, and its mint served a political as much as an economic function.
The Dyroselle royales reference gap (LP#101 listed, Dy royales#93 confirmed but cross-reference incomplete) suggests ongoing debate among specialists over die attribution within this fourth type.
