Reverse description A bold plain cross pattée occupies the central field, its arms extending nearly to the inner beaded circle, with small pellets or annulets placed in the angles between the arms. The surrounding legend reads * LANDONIS CASTA (for Castellum Landonis, i.e. Château-Landon) in Latin characters, distributed around the periphery within the beaded inner circle and outer toothed decorative border. The overall style is consistent with Capetian feudal coinage of the first half of the 12th century, with a characteristically irregular flan and variable die alignment.
