Reverse description A plain cross with arms extending toward the inner circle dominates the central field, with two papal keys depicted in the second and fourth quadrants formed by the cross. The keys serve as a heraldic reference to Saint Peter, the patron of the Comtat Venaissin coinage, and are rendered in a flat, simplified style characteristic of hammered provincial deniers. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin reads + SANCTVS PETRVS, invoking Saint Peter as protector of the papal authority. The flan is irregular with visible surface porosity and patination consistent with a billon alloy of low silver content. The overall design follows the established iconographic conventions of Avignon and Comtat Venaissin ecclesiastical coinage of the early fifteenth century.
