Obverse description Crowned bust of the ruler facing right in high relief, rendered in the crude Ottonian hammered style characteristic of tenth-century Rhenish deniers. The crown is depicted as a simple diadem with pronounced pellets or jewels, and the facial features are summarily stylised. The surrounding field is irregular and uneven, with no legible legend visible, the flan exhibiting the characteristic irregular edge of a hand-struck medieval silver coin.
