Conrad I of Burgundy gained control of the Basel mint following the absorption of Transjurane Burgundy into the Kingdom of Arles in 937, a consolidation that gave him authority over one of the Rhine's most strategically positioned minting centers. The long reign attribution — stretching across more than five decades — reflects genuine difficulty in distinguishing die sequences within this series rather than continuous uninterrupted production.
The Dann Sa#959 reference places this piece within a well-documented Swiss collection framework, but individual die studies remain incomplete.
