Obverse description Central device depicts a large royal crown with three fleurs-de-lis finials rendered in relief, occupying the majority of the field. The Latin legend KAROLVS REX is inscribed above the crown. Below the crown, additional lettering appears in the lower field. The coin is struck within a beaded border on an irregular planchet, characteristic of early Angevin hammered coinage in Hungary.
