Obverse description A stylized Carolingian temple depicted in the central field, rendered with four columns supporting a gabled roof surmounted by a cross; a second cross occupies the interior of the structure between the columns. The architectural motif is executed in the schematic hammered style characteristic of Carolingian silver coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the temple device, commencing with a cross pattée.
