Reverse description A bold plain cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing one letter of the mint name: V, O, R, and M, reading clockwise from the upper-left quarter. The cross arms extend nearly to the outer border, and the letters are rendered in the angular, raised relief typical of early Carolingian hammered deniers. The whole is enclosed within a border of raised pellets following the irregular flan edge.
