| 正面铭文 | CARO LVS (Translation: Charles.) |
| 背面描述 | The reverse presents the mint name RODOMUS (Rouen) divided into two registers by a prominent horizontal line bisecting the field, a distinctive layout characteristic of early Carolingian mint-name deniers. The upper register bears the letters R◊D, with a lozenge-shaped pellet serving as a word separator, while the lower register carries OM, together spelling the abbreviated Latin toponym RODOMUS. A small pellet is visible within the lower field. The bold, somewhat irregular letterforms and the separating bar are consistent with the hammered technique and the Rouen workshop's output during the reign of Charlemagne before the monetary reform of 793–794. |
