| 背面描述 | The reverse features a bold cross with balled terminals — a cross pattée-style design with a pellet at the end of each arm — dividing the field into four quarters. The mint name MAICON (Mâcon) is distributed letter by letter within the four quarters of the cross, reading M-Λ-I-C-N, consistent with the pre-reform Carolingian convention of placing mint identifiers in the quadrants. A small pellet or annulet is visible at the centre of the cross. The coin's border is formed by the irregular edge of the hammered flan. The overall style is typical of the early portrait-less Carolingian denier series prior to the monetary reform of 793–794. |
