| Descrizione del dritto | The field displays the royal name CAROLVS arranged in two lines of bold, deeply struck capital letters in the early Carolingian epigraphic style, reading CAR o / LVS, with an annulet or pellet visible in the upper right field serving as a decorative separator. The lettering is large and occupies most of the flan, characteristic of the pre-reform Carolingian denier type struck prior to the monetary reform of 793–794. The coin is struck on an irregular, hand-cut flan with a slightly ragged edge typical of hammered coinage of this period. A small hole is pierced near the lower edge, indicating the coin was likely worn as an ornament or amulet at some point in its history. |

The coin is enclosed by a beaded border visible on the outer edge of the flan.
