Reverse description A beaded cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a letter of the mint name LVCA (Lucca); a pellet is enclosed within a small beaded circle at the center intersection of the cross. Groups of pellets are distributed in the four quadrants alongside the letters. The overall design is bold and symmetrical, consistent with Carolingian administrative coinage reform types attributed to the later reign of Charlemagne.
