Obverse description Half-length frontal bust of a bishop, turned slightly left, rendered in high relief typical of Romanesque bracteate coinage. The figure holds a crozier in the right hand, with the crook curving outward to the left. Two small crosses flank the head in the field. The central design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by a decorative outer border of pellets or stylized foliage. The strike is characteristic of mid-12th century German episcopal bracteate production, with bold, deeply impressed relief on a thin flan.
