| Obverse description | Plain cross with short arms dividing the central field into four quarters, each containing a small pellet or annulet. A prominent annulet with a central pellet occupies the upper-right quarter, while a crescent or lunette appears in the lower-left quarter, lending an archaic, symbolic character to the design. The entire central motif is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a radiating toothed or striated band. An outer ring of irregular wedge-shaped or triangular projections — characteristic of late Salian-era episcopal coinage — frames the composition at the periphery. No legend is present, consistent with the anonymous emission attributed to the Bishopric of Naumburg. |
