| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain cross pattée occupies the central field, its arms extending nearly to an inner beaded or cable border, a standard type for Carolingian-derived feudal deniers. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are plain. The surrounding legend reads REDONIG CIVIT, identifying the mint city of Rennes. The flan is irregular with a pronounced chip at the edge, consistent with the hammered production technique. The design follows the broad tradition of Carolingian ecclesiastical and feudal coinage adapted by the Breton dukes. |
