Obverse description Bare-headed, diademed bust of Juba II facing right, wearing a diadem adorned with a feather or palm frond, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with finely detailed curled hair. The effigy displays earrings and a necklace, reflecting the royal iconography of the Mauretanian court. The Latin legend REX IVBA is disposed in the field to the right of the portrait, reading downward. The flan is irregular and slightly scalloped at the edges, characteristic of hammered silver coinage of this period.
