The IMP XII tribunician dating places this issue firmly in 11–10 BC, a moment when Augustus was consolidating the religious and political reforms that followed Actium. The Apollo reverse type is directly tied to his deliberate promotion of that deity as his divine patron — a relationship he had cultivated since at least 36 BC, cemented by the dedication of the Temple of Apollo Palatinus in 28 BC, built adjacent to his own house on the Palatine.
RIC I 193B is a scarcer variant within the broader Actian Apollo series. The mint was operating under the authority of moneyers whose names do not appear on this issue — a reflection of how Augustus had by this point effectively absorbed coinage authority into his own titulature.
