Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine portrait style with naturalistic facial features, curled hair, and a strong profile characteristic of Augustan classicism. A border of dots frames the design along the coin's irregular flan edge. The legend is partially visible in the field to the right of the portrait, reading AVGVSTVS DIVI F, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its idealized yet individualized likeness, consistent with the refined die-cutting of the Lugdunum mint series of this period.
