Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in fine Classical style with naturalistic hair arranged in short, layered locks across the forehead. The portrait is set within an inner beaded border, with the legend distributed around the periphery of the flan. The effigy displays the characteristic Augustan idealized portraiture associated with the coinage of the Spanish mints of this period. The reverse legend partially visible at the right field reads AVGVSTVS DIVI F, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar.
