Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in fine classical style with carefully detailed wavy hair swept across the crown and curling locks falling over the ear and nape. The portrait is bold and high-relief, exhibiting the idealised yet individualistic Augustan portraiture characteristic of the Lugdunum mint. A dotted border encircles the field. The legend is divided on either side of the portrait.
