Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine portrait style with characteristic wavy hair combed forward over the brow. The effigy is depicted with naturalistic modelling of the facial features, consistent with the Augustan classical tradition. The encircling legend reads AVGVSTVS DIVI F, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The portrait occupies the full height of the flan, with the legend distributed to left and right of the bust.
