Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized classicizing style characteristic of Augustan court portraiture. The emperor's hair is depicted with finely modeled, layered locks swept forward over the brow in the characteristic Augustan capillary arrangement. The bust is truncated at the neck without drapery. A dotted border frames the design, and the circumferential Latin legend reads AVGVSTVS DIVI F, distributed across the upper and lower field.
