Reverse description Augustus seated left on a raised tribunal or platform, depicted in the act of receiving a diplomatic submission. Before him stand two figures presenting parazonia (short swords symbolic of submission) and olive branches, emblematic of the return of the Roman standards and the diplomatic settlement with Parthia or other enemies. The composition is rendered in a schematic but historically resonant manner, emphasising the emperor's role as supreme commander and diplomat. The inscription IMP X appears prominently in the field, referencing Augustus's tenth imperatorial acclamation. The scene is contained within a beaded border.
