Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine classical portrait style with characteristic swept fringe and layered hair. The emperor's features are depicted with idealised realism, showing a firm jaw and aquiline nose. The encircling legend reads CAESAR AVGVSTVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait occupies the central field in the dominant Roman imperial tradition, with the irregular hammered flan visible at the edges.
