背面描述	Facing left, the head of the nymph Arethusa is rendered in high relief, her hair bound with a wreath of aquatic reeds and adorned with a triple-pendant earring and a pearl necklace. Four dolphins cavort in the field surrounding her, emblematic of Syracuse's island setting on the Arethusa spring; a small griffin head appears to the right beneath her chin. The legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ arcs around the design, identifying the issuing city, and the composition exemplifies the masterful die-engraving characteristic of the great Syracusan silver coinage of the late fifth to early fourth century BC.
