Obverse description Facing bust of King Enrique IV of Castile, crowned with an elaborate Gothic crown, the royal effigy rendered in a schematic medieval style with long flowing hair falling to the shoulders and a bearded visage. The king is depicted in a frontal pose wearing armored or draped robes, his hands visible at the lower field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy reading + ENRICVS DEI GRACIA REX, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The inner field is defined by a beaded inner circle typical of Castilian hammered coinage of the period.
