| Beschrijving keerzijde | A pointed amphora depicted centrally in the field, with a racing torch to the left and the magistrate's name inscribed vertically to the right; the ethnic ΧΙΟΣ appears to the upper left, identifying the issuing city of Chios. The composition is well-centered within the irregular flan, typical of Hellenistic civic bronze coinage. |

Chios maintained unusual autonomy through much of the Hellenistic period — the island had allied with Rome as early as 190 BC and was granted freedom after Apamea in 188 BC, but this bronze predates that arrangement, falling instead within the turbulent decades following the Wars of the Diadochi, when control of the Aegean shifted repeatedly between Antigonid and Ptolemaic ambitions. The magistrate name Kyllam recorded on this issue places it within a civic series tied to local eponymous officials, a practice that allows approximate sequencing of Chian bronzes but rarely precise dating.
