Obverse description Facing right, the boldly modelled head of a lion with open jaws, rendered with deeply engraved strands of mane fanning around the face, conveying a powerful naturalistic quality characteristic of Seleucid bronze coinage. The design fills the flan, with the mane extending nearly to the coin's edge. The whole device is enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description A upright club, the principal device, centrally placed and dividing the two-line Greek royal legend arranged in the fields to either side. A monogram appears in the left field. The bold, compact lettering and the use of the club as a Heraklean dynastic symbol are characteristic of Antiochos VII's bronze coinage struck at Antioch.
