Reverse description Upright barley ear occupying the central field, with prominent awns fanning outward from the head and a single curved leaf extending to the lower left, emblematic of Metapontion's celebrated agricultural fertility. To the left of the stalk appears a monogram, and to the right the ethnic legend META in Greek characters, identifying the issuing city. The composition follows the canonical reverse type long associated with Metapontine coinage, here rendered in the abbreviated bronze format.
