| Beschrijving keerzijde | A warrior stands facing left in a frontal stance, holding a long spear in the right hand and a round shield on the left arm, depicted in the angular, abbreviated Celtic style common to Cunobelin's bronze coinage. The figure occupies the central field of the irregular flan, with the dynastic inscription TASCIIOVANTIS arranged around the periphery, identifying Cunobelin as son of Tasciovanos. The relief is relatively flat and the die work shows characteristic Iron Age British craftsmanship, with the legend partially visible depending on flan completeness. The overall composition reflects the military iconography favoured by the Catuvellaunian rulers in the years preceding the Roman conquest. |
