| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylised Celtic head facing right, rendered in the abstract curvilinear tradition characteristic of late Iron Age British coinage. The facial features are summarily indicated, with the design heavily worn and encrusted with green patina consistent with long burial. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hand-struck Celtic bronze units of this period. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Amminus was a son of Cunobelinus — the king Shakespeare loosely immortalized as Cymbeline — and appears to have controlled Cantium (modern Kent) as a subordinate ruler before being expelled, likely by his brothers, sometime around 40 AD. His flight to Rome and appeal to Emperor Caligula is recorded by Suetonius, who notes with evident sarcasm that Caligula treated the exile's arrival as a major military triumph. These bronzes almost certainly predate that expulsion, making them the product of an extremely compressed window of autonomous authority in the southeast.
