Reverse description Central field depicts a passant rampant lion of Leon enclosed within a quadrilobe or quatrefoil ornamental frame, with each lobe separated by small pellets, all set within a beaded inner circle. The lion is shown with its head turned to face the viewer, with a crown atop its head and forelegs raised, rendered in the robust, stylised manner typical of medieval Castilian coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design between the inner beaded border and the irregular outer edge of the flan.
