Obverse description Central field displays a crowned Gothic castle of Castile set within a diamond-shaped (lozenge) frame, a distinctive feature of this Enrique IV blanca type. The castle is rendered in a crude but characteristic late medieval style with visible battlements and towers. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, with the partial Latin royal legend running along the outer periphery. The coin exhibits the typical irregular flan and weak strike common to hammered billon issues of this period. The Segovia mint mark may appear in the field adjacent to the central device.
