Reverse description Bare head of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa facing right, wearing a distinctive composite crown combining the mural crown (corona muralis, symbolising city-taking) and the rostral crown (corona rostrata, awarded for naval victories), rendered in bold relief to emphasise the honour accorded to Augustus's admiral and son-in-law. The portrait is vigorous and individualistic, consistent with known likenesses of Agrippa. The surrounding legend M AGRIPPA PLATORINVS IIIVIR runs along the periphery, naming both Agrippa as the honoured figure and C. Sulpicius Platorinus as the issuing monetalis (triumvir monetalis). The reverse field is otherwise plain.
