Obverse description Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of eastern provincial coinage. The laurel wreath is rendered in high relief with clearly defined leaves. The Greek legend ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Caesar Augustus) is disposed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the refined, youthful features associated with Augustan imperial iconography, with carefully articulated hair beneath the wreath.
