Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Vaballathus facing right, rendered in the typical late Roman antoninianus style with a radiate crown of pointed spikes. The portrait displays the young features of the Palmyrene king, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads IM C VHABALATHVS AVG, occupying the full periphery of the flan.

Reverse description Sol, the sun god, depicted standing and facing right, his right hand raised in a gesture of adoration or salutation, while his left hand holds a globe. A star appears in the left field, and the mintmark is placed in the exergue.
