In his extended right arm he holds a thunderbolt, the principal attribute of the supreme deity, while his left hand rests upon a long vertical scepter. The figure is rendered in the abbreviated but confident style characteristic of mid-third-century Gallic mint production. The reverse legend IOVI STATORI is distributed in the field around the deity, invoking Jupiter in his role as the god who makes armies stand firm in battle. |
