Obverse description Laureate head of Nero facing right, rendered in a bold provincial style with pronounced facial features and a ribbon tied at the nape of the neck. The effigy is encircled by a beaded border. The Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature.

Reverse description A large olive wreath occupies the entire reverse field, tied at the base with a floral ornament or rosette. Within the wreath, the Greek numeral letters MH (denoting 48) are prominently displayed in the center of the field. The design is enclosed by a beaded border, and the wreath is rendered in a detailed, naturalistic provincial style typical of Bosporan coinage of the Neronian period.
