| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Carian civic coinage of the Augustan period. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic features with a laurel wreath crown, the neck truncation visible at the lower field. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Sebastos, the Greek equivalent of Augustus) accompanies the effigy. The flan shows the irregular, somewhat crude fabric typical of local Coan bronze issues of this era. |
