Additional information

Romanos Lekapenos seized power not through dynastic right but through a calculated naval coup — he was commander of the fleet when he maneuvered himself into the role of father-in-law to the young Constantine VII, then co-emperor, then senior emperor, effectively sidelining the legitimate Macedonian heir for over two decades. His bronze issues are administratively complex because multiple co-emperors were elevated during his reign, creating overlapping authority that the coinage reflects inconsistently across mint runs.

The DOC III-2 attribution places this firmly within the Constantinople mint's output under his administration.
