Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of King Gustav Vasa standing in the field, depicted in regal attire with crown and scepter, rendered in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of early Swedish Renaissance coinage. The king is shown facing the viewer in a formal, hieratic pose between the surrounding circular legend. The circumferential inscription reads GUSTAVUS • DEI • GRACIA • REX • SWECIE, identifying the monarch as King of Sweden by the grace of God. The relief is bold and the die-work reflects the craftsmanship of the Stockholm Mint workshop of the 1530s.
