Reverse description The denomination VIII is prominently struck in the upper portion of the central field within a beaded inner circle, with the inscription SKILLI / NC·DA / NS arranged in three lines below, together forming the abbreviated legend for '8 Skilling dansk' (8 Danish Skilling). The peripheral legend around the beaded border reads VANDAL·GOTOR·REX with the date 1643 incorporated into the legend, separated by a cross stop, identifying the king as Rex Vandalorum Gothorumque (King of the Vandals and Goths). The overall layout is typical of Danish hammered silver coinage of the first half of the seventeenth century.
